Above me is a title large enough to crush me. Murdoch and I are building a title so great no machine can handle it. This is part of the reason my old computer passed on, to better and bloggier things up in heaven. To prevent this from happening again I always have this title ready for who knows for whom the Dell tolls. My computer hated that pun showing it as a grammatical mistake. I do what I want. Happy my dead computer rests in the heart of a nebula. For my sake I hope it is the Horsehead Nebula. Perhaps my computer is riding universal horses in the heavens.
The beans reading (as the alt lit reading is now known) was a complete and utter success. Lucy K Shaw witnessed in person the destruction of a can of beans in the most gruesome manner possible. I saw from far away the most brutal murder of a can of beans ever. Murdoch might have been there, he’s a sneaky one. Everyone at the reading later had to mop clean the floor of the beans. Never anger Maggie Lee. If Maggie can stab a can of beans to death for simply chilling there, being beany, imagine what she could do when she’s really angry. Full disclosure: I love Maggie Lee. She is my best friend. Read her poetry. Check out Habitat when it drops. Is her piece the best one? Not having read it or even seen it I’m going to say yes.
I am happy, no, goddamn it, ecstatic that Murdoch is getting ‘TREEES’ from Stephen Michael McDowell. Though I do not want to ruin the book for Murdoch, let me offer this one spoiler: the word ‘damn’ is used multiple times in the book. Also somebody drinks beer. Stephen’s book ‘TREEES’ is so good it made me fall in love with Baltimore for the first time, since I never really fell in love with Baltimore before because it kind of sucks. Baltimore is where kitsch is born and raised. Once you realize that it becomes beautiful. No wonder John Waters calls it home.
New music genres could employ millions of Americans. Music is a renewable resource since people are always recycling old genres. It’s called nostalgia and it works for us. Figure that there needs to be another big band resurgence in America, only this time it is mixed with house beats because why not. House music is dying in America to the sound of dubstep. I worry about America’s dance music infrastructure. People are into the ‘Dance Dance Revolution’ yet that revolution has passed America by. Weep for the revolution heard above my apartment was the start of the annoying college students. Two weeks later it petered out for less simulating fare.
Murdoch is beginning one of the newest forms to be conquered by lit alt. Stay tuned to find out more or simply go to Cosmic Parade to discover (and feel) the love.
