Spacedads, Returning to Earth
This is the inaugural cannot miss must see Spreecast of the century. Ever since Spacedads’ humble beginning, in a garage in Silicon Valley in the early 1940s with the help of escaped Roswell aliens, there has been the hope of creating real change. Ustream failed in its attempt to change the game. Indeed as noted cultural historian John McCain once stated about Ustream ‘That’s not change, that’s more of the same’. Of course John McCain knew nothing about space, the internet or online poetry. But he’s old. Alt Lit is brand spanking new baby boy who has been without his father for too long. Years have gone past since anybody saw the dad of Alt Lit.
Now Spacedads returns to Earth. With a truly all-star cast Spacedads is the best thing to happen to space since ‘Space Jam’. Yes everyone is getting out of the woodwork ready to explore their artistic impulses. People need to get pumped hence this whole ‘pre-game post’. Many of these readers have never before read. Some that have read have since watched as thousands upon thousands of Spreecasts were deleted. All the magic, all the mystery was gone in the great Spreecast fire of 2012. Never again can those moments be recreated. However future moments, like the ones that will be shown in the next few hours, those will rock. To introduce the ‘N00B’ to these readers a small summary of their work/brand shall be given:
Hannah Fantana is often confused with ‘Sony Brand Camera’ thanks to the lyrical musings of the now-defunct rap duo ‘Das Racist’. The world better be prepared for Hannah’s lyrical onslaught. Having read at the flurry of New York readings nary a few fortnights ago, Hannah is ready and poised for action. Recently her debut novella ‘Sans You’ was released on the infinitely reputable ‘Habitat’ online publishing house.
Walter Mackey needs no introduction. In the spirit of Post-Christmas here goes: hailing from the furthest reaches of Canadian civilization Walter rocks the mike. Founder of the on hiatus alt lit mag ‘Screaming Seahorses’ Walter has a number of mighty-ass accomplishments. His story in Shabby Doll House about love gone wrong remains one of the most twisted examples of horror within the alt lit genre. Yes Walter Mackey is strange and deranged but he’s a caring, confident and cute cuddling Canadian.
Nathan Masserang has released multiple chapbooks over the internet years better known as months. Recently he too released the sort of book that people adore named after a daytime talk show host one Ellen DeGeneres. Yes his work is beautiful. Check out his work whenever possible as it is truly life-changing.
Beach Sloth writes a blog, maintains a Twitter that has a decent following, updates an Instagram that like five people bother watching, and a Tumblr which recently reached the pivitol as fuck ‘1,000 followers’ mark. Sure porn Tumblrs reach over 1,000 followers in like half an hour but 1,000 followers for an exclusively non-pornographic content creating Tumblr is highly unusual. Beach Sloth currently has out a single chapbook and is working on an incredibly vile one based around Flarf.
Stephen Michael McDowell runs the game known as ‘Habitat’. Previously Stephen branded himself as a ‘Buttercup’ but has unfortunately returned back to his original human form. A writer in his own right, Stephen has released reams of PDFs online. Many of Stephen’s pieces have received glowing attention from such online sources as Dennis Cooper, Alt Lit Gossip, and of course the ever exclusive reputable blog called ‘Beach Sloth’.
Of course there are those delightful hosts, one Daniel Alexander, Austin Islam, Kersey Chase, and countless (or perhaps countable others) who make this thing possible. Salute Spacedads as they return to the greener pastures of Earth.
