You were a party but I wasn’t invited by Megan Lent
Megan Lent travels across America. Look at all the things she let go. A book lives in San Diego with a boy with a red backpack. He loved the book so much he exchanged a kiss for it. Kisses are worth $8.79 in US Dollars, though the Kiss exchange rate varies internationally. America is not an affectionate country. It is too empty inside for that. Fill America with lost loves. That’s what Megan does as she lost a book to upstate New York. Upstate New York really needs to keep that book. ‘Perks of being a Wallflower’ is a good book. She gave away a burned copy of Neutral Milk Hotel’s alt record masterpiece ‘In the Aeroplane over the Sea’. I remember making a mix CD with one of those songs for a girl I liked. It is a solid choice for any romantic queries. Happy to hear Megan liked her journalism teacher. I miss my music writing teacher. That class was literally made for me.
Trains are good pickup locations. You can meet lots of wonderful people on the train. Sometimes I like to think people are checking me out on the train. A few times they actually are. Once or twice they begin to talk to me. Megan’s tale rings true. Normally I do not speak with people on a train or bus. Thanks to my headphones I can act dazed and not be bothered. Besides those people do not know how much music I listen to, I mean, I run a music blog for Pete sakes.
Love comes to Megan. Together they go to a farmer’s market. Glad to see they support their local farmer. I am a farmer of beets, yams, and corn. Hope they purchased some beets. Beets are the most emo vegetables imaginable. Beets think nobody wants them. Unfortunately the beets are completely correct. Nobody wants a Beet. Perhaps the joy between Megan and her lover rubbed off on their favorite vegetables.
Reflection on one’s home is normal. Few Americans get to live in such a rustic part of America. America is about gold digging. Part of me is re-assured that the West was settled by idealists looking for precious minerals in the ground. I feel a kinship for those westward idealists, always moving further for more space, more sun and more heat. James Marshall lost his credit to his boss. Employees are subordinate to their bosses. Guess that works for hospital, road, and town naming too. Prison is the town’s sole reason to exist. That is pretty normal in 21st century America. Whole countries have been founded on prison colonies anyway.
Ouch that is a harsh ending. Endings are tough. We look back at our past and realize what happened to those people. Joining a frat or sorority is normal. Normal hurts when you are in love with weird. Weird is beautiful. I love weird. My friends turned away from the weird, from the artsy, to try to become normal. Being completely unable to do so, they failed at being either too normal or too weird and life swallowed them whole. I embrace the weird. Embrace who you are. Stop thinking about who you could be. Think about who you are. Who you are is a very good thing. Do what you want. Avoid advice and simply become what you’ve always wanted to become.
I really like the last paragraph of Beach Sloth’s review, here. Sloth wisdom.
